PPC campaign increases conversions by 350% in one month

CMC Markets, the world's leading global CFD, FX and financial spread betting provider, sought our help to improve its online visibility on Google Canada.

Objectives

Having successfully handled CMC Markets' UK account, we were asked to run the Canadian PPC account, replicating the success we’d achieved in the UK. To that end we were set the following challenge:

  • Increase the number of conversions (leads).
  • Significantly decrease the exceptionally high cost per acquisition (CPA).
  • Demonstrate that we could successfully manage an account based in a foreign, international market.
  • Due to coding issues with CMC Canada's website, we had to achieve the results without using any remarketing.

Strategy

After an extensive, in-depth audit of CMC's AdWords account, we highlighted several major issues which were hindering the financial traders performance:

  • Narrow keyword coverage
  • Irrelevant keywords
  • Feature adoption

Based on the findings, we decided to rebuild the account. This was done to ensure all targeted keywords were grouped into granular ad groups, which would allow for precision targeting.

Using a similar keyword set to the one used for the UK account, we launched the campaign and closely monitored the Canadian markets' response to the UK keyword set. Based on the results, changes to the account structure were made on an hourly basis, ensuring CMC Canada was receiving the maximum value for its spend.

Results

Within just one month of engagement, we achieved the following results:

  • 491% increase in conversion rate
  • 350% increase in the number of conversions
  • 55% decrease in cost per conversion
  • 100% increase in Quality Score
