“Computers are useless. They can only give you answers.”

Pablo Picasso

At first glance, Markus might just look like a talented German skateboarder with a penchant for strategy roadmaps, but that’s only because he is. Born in Wismar, Markus decided at age 1 to move to the big city, Hamburg. Growing up here, he and his friends would shred on their decks until nightfall; and then they’d shred some more. Obviously, we all know and love Hamburg-based skateboarding crew “FROOB!”, but Markus was actually a founding member and even won a Red Bull video competition with them. When Markus wasn’t being gnarly however, he had a knack for all things technical, becoming the go-to guy whenever his family’s PC broke down. This started him on his journey to becoming one of our Analytics Client Service Managers; truly the 360° double kickflips of the Analytics team.

With a degree in Business Informatics from the University of Hamburg, Markus worked in Web Analytics for three and a half years before making the jump to Merkle | Periscopix. An institution in our Media Science team, Markus is a master at attribution, well-versed in both Attribution 360 and Google Analytics. He’s the guy you speak to when you need a strategic approach to data driven marketing. That’s not all however; Markus can also fold boxes - a skill he learnt at a Box Folding Factory. No interesting take or quip here. That’s just something he did once.

When Markus isn’t crushing it in attribution, he follows his one true passion: watching all three Lord of The Rings films repeatedly. With 10 full trilogy views at 11.4 hours per trilogy viewing, that’s a grand total of whatever amount of time it takes for all the life in the universe to die. He’s such a diehard fan, in fact, that he’s been to New Zealand and visited the town of Hobbiton. Sadly, it looked like all the hobbits had left. Must’ve been the tourists.
