Holly grew up in Greater London, where she enjoyed all the perks of the busy city whilst being able to retreat home to her border collie called Poppy. As well as spending her childhood playing with her dog, it wasn’t until Holly was 15 that her love of books really emerged. Her favourite collection is (obviously) Harry Potter, however her favourite novel is Wide Sargasso Sea, which was written by Jean Rhys as a prequel to Jane Eyre.
Holly’s love of books led her to study English and Philosophy at Nottingham University. During her three years there, Holly met some amazing people that she now couldn’t live without. Holly would always bake them cakes as a thank you for reading her dissertation. Thankfully, she has carried on this tradition to Merkle | Periscopix where she is known to bring in freshly baked goods into the office on people’s birthdays! Despite not being able to master bread yet, her banana cake is on point – no soggy bottoms here!
As a food lover, Holly has travelled the world to find the best restaurants. A personal favourite was a little Michelin star restaurant in Budapest where she had dinner with her Mum. Holly is also no stranger to travelling with family; having once gone on a six-week expedition with her Grandma where they visited Dubai and Australia! It is on Holly’s bucket list to go on an excursion to Iceland to see the Northern Lights, go whale watching, and visit the infamous Blue Lagoon.
A fun fact about Holly is that she is a trained SIA bouncer, having worked at Wimbledon for the last three years on security. You can be rest assured that Holly is as thorough with your accounts as she is at doing bag checks!
