Merkle Grand Tour
Nine of our employees cycled the entire length of the United Kingdom in nine days. The Land’s End to John o’Groats challenge is the UK’s most iconic and challenging cycling tour - a 960 mile journey with some serious hill climbs (over 30k feet in total). Over £20,000 was raised and donations were given to two amazing charities: Bloodwise and Duchenne UK.
London > Brighton > London
Our team of cycling enthusiasts raised funds by completing the 130 mile journey in one day. Thanks to their efforts, over £8,000 was raised for Muscular Dystrophy UK, a charity which is doing groundbreaking work to fund research projects seeking treatments and a cure for Duchenne.
Charity Bake Sales
Charity bake sales are a fairly regular thing in the office - and no one's complaining! Over the years, we have raised funds for an array of charities including the Alzheimer’s Society which used the money to continue PhD research into causes of dementia, antibodies, brain scans, research equipment and therapy sessions.
Clothes and Food Appeal
Following a weekend of company camping, we had plenty of spare tents! Keen to donate these to people in need, Merkle | Periscopix asked employees to also bring clothes and food so we could support the charity work Hand in Hand For Syria does. The charity were the first people to take humanitarian aid into Syria, and have remained at the forefront of emergency aid in Syria ever since.
Volunteer Work - Bede House
Bede House are a local charity who focus their work on supporting and developing the community (but more specifically the borough of Southwark). The charity focuses on four main areas - youth work, supporting individuals with learning disabilities, supporting those affected by domestic violence and general community engagement. Merkle | Periscopix have worked with Bede House, providing free Google AdWords and Google Analytics. More recently, a few Periscopians have helped raise money for the charity, including a sponsored 10k run and lending a hand at the annual Bede House Summer Fete. At the fete we were able to get involved in running the stalls, manning the barbecue and generally helping out where we could. It was a great day and over £1,000 was raised which went to help fund the summer activities for that year (such as sailing and a trip to the seaside).
Maximising your Google Grant
As a successful company, we are committed to ensuring that we do our bit for charity so involve ourselves in raising money for various charitable organisations through an array of activities. We also acknowledge that whilst the Google Grant system is fantastic, many markets in which charities operate are very competitive. A best practice, well managed PPC campaign can make a big difference to results so we encourage all Account Managers to work for a non-profit account of their choice.
These are some of the charities we are proud to work with:
