Hold on, what on Earth is tag management?

A tag is a piece of code (usually Javascript) used to track the performance of your website or a marketing campaign driving traffic to it. Google Analytics, AdWords and affiliate networks all use tags.

A tag management solution replaces all of those tags with just one single tag which needs to be implemented on the page. You can then manage the individual tags from a simple-to-use, intuitive interface.

And why you need it? Well it makes adding and changing tags in the future MUCH cheaper and quicker. And because you add and change tags from an interface, it means that us marketers can do it ourselves – and this means faster turnaround times and less hassle!

In Google's words

So how do I get started?

Well, you do have to do some coding to implement it in the very first instance. You will probably need some help from someone with prior experience for the initial set up before you can enjoy quick and easy tag management. Here is where we can help, as not only are we GTM advocates, but we’ve also been given a specialisation in GTM implementation by the big G themselves.

And – here's the Brucie bonus – not only are we GTM advocates and specialists, we also know a thing or two about Google Analytics. So as well as getting you set up with a shiny GTM account, we can give you a steer on best practice Google Analytics account strategy and how you could better utilise the sweet suite of tools that GA provides, such as event tracking and funnel visualisation. For more information on this service, check out our Implementation Audit & Set-up page.
