“Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic.”

Arthur C. Clarke

We like to think of ourselves as conversational nerds here on the analytics team, and for some it holds truer than others. Adrian, however, fully embodies this ethos in the best possible way. Let’s see, on day one he showed up with a Star Wars mug, which is always going to be a winner, but a Star Wars obsession is getting to be pretty vanilla around here. Luckily, he also has a wedding ring made of palladium (the metal used to power Iron Man’s suit). At said wedding his cake was Lego themed, and he’s an avid player of Dungeons & Dragons (with his wife!). He also knows almost everything there is to know about the Marvel universe(s).

Adrian studied Physics at Aberdeen, but that wasn’t quite enough though, so he followed up with a Masters in Geophysics. This gave him both an unrivalled understanding of the intricacies of oil and mineral prospecting and perhaps more importantly, experience in handling and analysing massive datasets. In his down time at uni, Adrian also signed up for an online course in web development which ultimately cemented his journey into web analytics.

At the end of the day though, Adrian lives to dance. In fact he and his wife met six years ago at a reportedly disastrous Salsa lesson! Salsa ain’t his jam though, Adrian’s all about the Tango. In his own words he’s obsessed, having sunk much of his disposable time and income into his art. Eventually the student became the master, with Adrian taking over from his sensei to become Grandmaster of Tango.
